A Week Inside Our Guangzhou Factory

2026-10-04 · Jeff · 5 min read

Monday morning, 8:30 AM, Zengcheng district, Guangzhou. The cutting floor is already running — our six automated lines start before the office does. I walk through with the QC lead to check the week's color matches against approved samples. This is where your leather starts: not in a catalog, but on a table, under light, next to the signed sample.

Tuesday — color day

Color matching is the most underestimated step in upholstery leather. A shop in Texas needs a gray that matches a 2019 truck interior that has faded for five years. That's not picking from a chart — that's mixing. Our color room runs custom matches daily; most take one round, some take three.

Wednesday — cutting and embroidery

The digital cutting tables handle model-specific seat cover kits. Watching a headrest panel get cut to a pattern that started as a file from a shop in Phoenix never gets old. Embroidery runs the logos — some weeks it's shop names, some weeks it's a customer's customer.

Thursday — QC

Twelve QC specialists, four checkpoints. Thickness, grain, color against the signed sample, stitching strength. Rolls that don't pass don't ship — they go back. It costs us; it saves you.

Friday — containers

Friday is loading day. Moisture-protected wrapping, batch labels, container loading plans. A container of rolls heading to the US leaves with traceable batch IDs — so if you ever ask me "which batch is my order," there's an answer.

People ask how a pastor ends up running export for a leather factory. My answer: the same God I preach about on Sunday is the one I work for on the cutting floor. The standard doesn't change — only the material does.

If you're an upholstery shop that wants a factory that treats your order like it matters — that's literally what this blog is about.
